Project Hail Mary

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and was excited to learn that it's going to be adapted into a movie with Ryan Gosling as the star. Imagining him in the lead role added an extra layer of enjoyment to my reading experience, especially when envisioning the comedic aspects of his adventures in space.

The initial chapters of the book are crucial for drawing readers in, and the book succeeded in doing just that. I was immediately captivated by the suspense and the many questions that arose about what was happening in the story. The vivid descriptions allowed me to picture the situations and settings clearly. Additionally, the mystery surrounding the robots was intriguing, and the injection of comedy through references to "penis and butt 'tubes'" was unexpected and provided a humorous twist.

I love the engaging story telling - Dr. Grace's inner dialogue made me feel like I was actively participating in the story, helping the character navigate through their journey. The use of flashbacks was skillfully employed to unravel the character's past, elements of surprise from the past thrown and I enjoy it, particularly in the revelation of something as trivial as the character's name. The author excels in building suspense and then delivering a well-timed reveal, which keeps the reader invested in the plot.

I did find some of the scientific computations to be a bit challenging to grasp, as the numbers didn't always make sense. Nevertheless, I appreciate that one doesn't necessarily need a science degree to understand the overarching narrative.

My favorite part was that time when he finally remembered how he became the main scientist in the crew. The scene where he's being dragged against his will - it's horrible but I imagine the comedy around it.

Despite my minor reservations about the ending and some scientific elements, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The combination of suspense, humor, and engaging storytelling, along with the prospect of a Ryan Gosling-led movie adaptation, make this a book worth picking up. I eagerly look forward to seeing how this imaginative space odyssey unfolds on the silver screen.
