My Makeup Love Affair

Can't believe it's December again. As with many other year-ends, I just started decluttering stuff. Got myself into those scary storage closets in my house and dove in. Lo and behold, I found these beautiful little empty packages of makeup that I collected and kept in that storage closet for years.

Look what I found

Threw away everything else, but kept these boxes. Love UD's packaging

I must have mentioned this before, I consider myself a late bloomer when it comes to makeup. I started it mid-20s, using those cheapest eyeshadows and foundations I got from a department store in Makati. During my time in Japan, being out and about in the clubs kinda forced my to use things (plus, hey - how could you not resist the temptation with those ads in every street or train station). Just like with any other normal 20 year olds, my funds were always limited, but I still manage to sneak in some pretty Shiseido Maquillage makeup into my set whenever I get my pay. When I start something creatively, I knew that I wanted to become great at it.

Years and years later when I got into the States and got a little more comfortable in terms of funds, I went all the way! Got myself into a Makeup School, Airbrush Training In Makeup Forever Academy, and got into some gigs to use all my kit. I think I lasted for just a year. It was fun going out and about, but I found it as not very much rewarding as with my day job in computers. At the time all I thought was just content, but it's not about spending time and effort to become great at it.

One of my Ipsy Subscriptions, which I kept it for about 2 years

A year later when I thought my kit was just "dying" in the corner, I just decided to give it away, and I would say to never look back, but I always do from time to time. Only because when I thought that I wasn't good enough, I looked at my past pictures and thought - hey, I think I got it.

And actually, even now, I feel like I'm better at applying makeup than before wherein I was just "following instructions".

Nowadays, it kinda clicked for me - the 3-dimensional eye color application, the contours, and even color theory, which I thought was something I'll never understand.
